To the Shore.

Today, the three of us traveled up the peninsula to Jacksonport. One of the ladies from church has a cottage there on the shore of Lake Michigan and held a picnic afternoon for the branch. It was the most idyllic day and weather. It was warm and humid with just enough wind to keep it comfortable and the water. The water was the warmest I have felt outside of Hawaii. I went kayaking for a bit and didn't even flinch when the waves lapped up over the sides of the kayak. This was very good seeing as I got soaked. It was a beautiful day.
I have looked forward to the event of Addison experiencing sand and waves. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it into the ocean when we were on the West Coast so here in Wisconsin was her first shoreline experience. And she loved it. When thinking about this moment I have always been worried over the thought of her trying to eat the sand or rubbing it in her eyes. But she handled it like she had been in it a thousand times before. She grabbed a handful, examined it and that was it. No eating, no rubbing. It was blissful.

She would kick her little legs so vigorously in the waves and smile. I do believe she could have stayed just like that for hours and hours.

Sheer contentment and a beautiful day.
